Emergency Roof Repair in Slidell, LA
Tarp, plywood or dry-in in business hours, for the opening a fallen tree or storm wind leaves in a Slidell roof.
A hardwood trunk through the roof brings three jobs to one yard: the tree, the opening and the cleanup. Epic Roofing's emergency roof repair takes the middle one: the opening is covered and photographed, with the visit timed around the tree service and the power company.
Fallen Trees and Slidell Roofs
On April 15, 2023, storms through the Slidell area left a hardwood about 18 inches across lying on a house northeast of town, trees blocking both lanes of Bayou Liberty Road, and more trees down over the interstate. On the evening of April 18, 2019, the fire department reported a tree blown onto a car and power lines on Spruce Road off Military Road. Slidell has also taken EF-2 tornadoes in 2011 and 2024, but a single falling tree is enough to open a roof.
Two City matters come into play once the water is stopped. After Hurricane Francine in 2024, the City asked residents to sort curbside storm debris into separate piles, with vegetative debris left unbagged and construction and demolition debris kept apart from it, all out of ditches and the roadway. Rules after a future storm may differ, so check the City's current notice before you stack tree debris or broken building material at the curb. Whether the permanent fix that follows a tarp needs a City permit is for the City to decide, and when the City requires one, we pull it before that work begins.

Situations We Cover on a Slidell Emergency Call
Water coming inside now:
A heavy-mil tarp goes over the entry point and well past it onto sound shingles, nailed down through furring strips, with sandbags holding the edges if the slope faces hard wind.
A hole through the deck:
Sheathing broken by a trunk or limb is closed with plywood, its edges sealed and a tarp laid over the top.
Shingles stripped with rain on the way:
Bare underlayment or decking gets covered before the next band of weather arrives, even if nothing has leaked yet.
A long wait for the permanent fix:
When the cover must stay up more than a week, we dry the roof in: synthetic underlayment across the bare deck, then the tarp.
Proof of each stage:
The damage is photographed before it is covered, and CompanyCam logs each stage with its date, place, and materials, ending with the finished cover, in an album that stays yours.
What Slidell Owners Ask After a Tree Comes Down
A tree fell on our Slidell house. Who should come first?
The tree service, unless a power line is caught up in it, in which case the power company. An opening cannot be covered with a trunk still lying across it, and once the roof is clear, we tarp or board it up.
Does the permanent fix need a City of Slidell permit?
It may. The City's Building Safety office decides from the scope of the repair. Addresses beyond the city limits are permitted by St. Tammany Parish.
The roof opened after dark. Can someone tarp it tonight?
No one goes on a roof at night or while a storm is still passing. Call anyway: an after-hours call is captured and goes to our on-call dispatcher, who sets up the response for first thing the next morning. Inside, move belongings away from the drip, catch what you can, and, if it is safe, take photos of the wet ceiling and walls for your own records.
A section of our roof was patched a few years ago. Does that change anything now?
Tell us where the patch is and roughly when it was done. Water often finds the edge of an older repair first, so we check whether the new leak starts there, and the photos record both for whoever does the permanent work.
The Order of a Slidell Tarp Visit
What we ask on the phone.
What fell, where water is showing, and whether a wire is involved. The answers decide which tarps go on the truck and how many people come with them.
A road in and a clear roof.
If a road such as Bayou Liberty is still blocked, or the trunk is still lying on the house, we set the visit for once both are clear.
On the roof in daylight.
Once the storm has passed and the way is clear, the crew settles on tarp, plywood, or dry-in and emails the estimate, and work begins when it is in your hands.
The permanent fix.
It is booked only after the tree work is finished and the house has dried out, and you decide whether Epic or another contractor does it.
Pricing a Slidell Emergency Cover
Three things set the price of temporary cover: how large the opening is, how steep the roof is, and how much work it takes to reach the damaged slope. We quote it at the house and put it on a written estimate before starting. If you later hire Epic for the permanent work, what you paid for the emergency cover is credited toward it; with another contractor, there is no credit.
The permanent repair follows a free inspection and receives its own written scope and price, separate from the emergency cover, with a written workmanship warranty whose term is stated in the scope. That scope may be an ordinary Slidell roof repair, or, when a tornado reached the framing, storm damage roof repair in Slidell that waits on the engineer and framer.
