Roof Repair in Prairieville, LA
Hail, wind, and falling hardwoods have each left a dated mark on Prairieville roofs. We repair what those storms broke and photograph every layer for your adjuster.
One February night in 2024, hail as big as golf balls was reported near Prairieville High School. Hail like that leaves two kinds of marks on one roof: shingles the ice broke and shingles it only scuffed. A Prairieville storm repair starts by sorting them, since only the broken ones need fixing or belong in a claim.
Epic Roofing is owner-run out of Mandeville, a long drive from Prairieville, and we say so up front: on all our Prairieville roofing work, you deal with the owner's company directly.
What Prairieville's Recorded Storms Did to Roofs
Prairieville's storms are on record with dates and street names. Each broke roofs in a different place, so the storm that hit your street tells us where to look first.
February 2024: golf-ball hail reported
Hail 1.75 inches across was reported near Prairieville High School, one point in a hailstorm that crossed parts of Ascension and Livingston parishes. Ice that size can fracture the fiberglass mat inside a shingle or strip its granules to bare asphalt, and a bruised shingle left in the sun ages faster than its neighbors.
June 2019: an EF-1 and the hardwoods
An EF-1 tornado began just south of Causey Road along Sycamore Avenue, crossed homes on Galvez Avenue, and peaked at Beech Street and Shirleyville Road. Most of the harm to houses came from big hardwoods falling onto them. A falling trunk drives its force into one spot: a rafter cracks, a sheet of decking snaps, and the underlayment tears well past the hole you can see.
February 2016: an EF-0 that peeled edges
The weaker 2016 tornado peeled back the roof of a strip mall on Airline Highway, then damaged roofs, sheds, and patios at several homes to the northeast. Wind lifts a roof from its eaves and rakes, so our wind-lift repairs re-secure those edges and replace raised shingles with new nails set where the manufacturer calls for them. Tabs that are only glued back down tend to let go in the next blow.
Three Checks From the Yard After Hail or a Downed Limb
Stay off the roof. Loose granules make shingles slick, and a limb on the ridge can still shift. The ground tells you plenty.
Soft metal around the house:
Look at gutters, downspouts, AC condenser fins and metal vent caps. Fresh round dents after hail show the ice was big enough to matter, and they are worth photographing for the adjuster.
Grit where the water drains:
Dark, sand-like granules piled at a downspout outlet after hail are shingle surface washing off. A new roof sheds a little; a heavy pile from an older roof is worth an inspection.
The roofline after wind or a tree fall:
From across the street, scan the eaves and rakes for raised or missing shingles and any limb still resting on the roof. Indoors, check the ceiling under that spot and, if the attic is safe to reach, look for daylight or damp decking.
If any turn up, take dated photos and call before signing anything.
When a Prairieville Storm Leaves Questions
After the February 2024 hail, how can I tell if my Prairieville roof is damaged or just marked?
Damage breaks the shingle: granules knocked off down to black asphalt, a soft spot where the mat has fractured, or a crack you can feel. A cosmetic mark stays on the surface and leaves the granule layer whole. The two look alike from the ground, so we photograph both side by side for the adjuster.
A limb fell onto my roof off Shirleyville Road. Why does the repair go past the shingles?
A falling hardwood puts its weight into the structure, and the visible hole is the smallest part of the damage. We check the rafters from the attic, replace cracked decking, run new underlayment past the torn area, and then shingle. Each layer is photographed before the next covers it, so your adjuster sees the deck repair as well as the finished roof.
A roofer knocked the morning after the storm. Should I let them on the roof?
Get a second look before you sign with anyone. Ask any roofer for a Louisiana contractor license number, a written scope with photos, and an office address you could drive to a year from now. Ours are RL886377 and 137 Girod Street in Mandeville.
After a hail repair, will the new shingles match my Prairieville roof from the 2000s?
If your shingle line is still made, a close match is likely, though color shifts between production runs and years of Louisiana sun fade the roof you have. Before work starts, we show you the closest current match beside your shingles, so you know how the repair will read from the street.
Water is coming through my ceiling after a storm. How soon can you get to Prairieville?
Call 225-396-8122 during business hours. A crew from Mandeville is more than an hour out, so protect the room first: move belongings and catch the drip. A tarp, used as an emergency roof repair, covers the room until the permanent fix is scheduled.
Who decides whether a Prairieville storm repair needs a permit?
Ascension Parish makes that call, and it turns on how big the repair is. When a repair requires a permit, we pull it, and the fee is a separate line item on the estimate.
What Goes in Your Adjuster File
For a hail claim, the file includes drone photos of each slope, close-ups of the hits we judge to be damage alongside the marks we judge to be cosmetic, and photos of dented soft metal. For a tree strike, it includes attic photos of the cracked rafter or broken decking, measurements of the damaged area, and the repair sequence as new decking and underlayment are installed after a framing contractor repairs the rafter. Where a leak has run, infrared images or moisture readings show how far the water traveled. Everything is stored in CompanyCam, and the written estimate follows within 2–5 business days.
When you invite us, we meet your adjuster on the roof and walk through the photos. Louisiana RS 22:1684 bars roofers from serving as public adjusters, so we do not negotiate or settle claims. No contractor may legally cover or waive a deductible in Louisiana. On the Prairieville storm claims we work, the policies have included State Farm, Allstate, National General, Louisiana Citizens, and USAA, and with each of them our insurance claim roofing help stops at the file and the roof walk.
Pricing a Prairieville Storm Repair
A single-issue storm repair, such as lifted shingles along a rake, a hail-cracked pipe boot or a short run of ridge cap, falls in the $400–$1,800 range. A tree strike that breaks decking or hail damage spread across several slopes is a multi-area repair costing $2,000–$5,000. When an inspection finds bruising across most of the roof, patching no longer makes sense, and we price a Prairieville roof replacement based on the same photos.
A written workmanship warranty covers repairs for a shorter term than our replacement warranty; the exact terms are within your scope. A leak with no storm behind it, such as a worn boot or tired flashing, is ordinary roof repair and needs no adjuster file.
Get the Storm Damage on Record
After a storm, send us your dated photos and the street you are on. The inspection is free; it covers the roof by drone and the attic, and the written, photo-backed estimate follows within 2–5 business days, with no deposit at the consultation. If the storm reached a house in Gonzales instead, ask for roof repair in Gonzales or the wider Gonzales roofing work when you call.
