Roofing in River Ridge, Jefferson Parish East Bank
Roofs built to clear heavy rain on River Ridge houses between the Mississippi levee and the Metairie line.
A community built against the Mississippi River levee sends its rainwater seven miles the other way, to Lake Pontchartrain. River Ridge runoff has moved through a chain of canals to the Elmwood pumping station and out to the lake. The federal Pump to the River project at the Harahan station was built to give that water a shorter path, over the levee and into the river.
Street drainage begins on the roof. Before any canal gets involved, a River Ridge roof has to move a heavy downpour off the house. We drive in from Mandeville by appointment; call 225-396-8122 to set a time.
Roofing Services in River Ridge
Roof repair in River Ridge
On a house from the 1950s and early 1960s build-out that turned Little Farms into suburbs, we trace a downpour leak back through the flashing, which may be as old as the walls it seals. More on roof repair.
Roof replacement in River Ridge
Plan on $13,000 to $23,000 for a 2,000- to 2,500-square-foot River Ridge home. Soft decking along the eaves, where runoff has collected for years, moves a job toward the upper end. See roof replacement.
FORTIFIED roofing in River Ridge
A FORTIFIED roof tapes and seals the deck seams, so a River Ridge attic keeps a barrier against rain even after wind strips shingles. An owner drawn in the state's Fortify Homes lottery could get as much as $10,000 toward a certified roof if the award was approved before the job began; Jefferson Parish was on the Round 9 list, and fortifyhomes.la.gov posts any later round. See FORTIFIED roofing.
Insurance claim roofing in River Ridge
Louisiana RS 22:1684 bars roofers from serving as public adjusters, so we do not negotiate or settle claims. When wind opens the roof and rain follows, our drone photos and attic notes show the adjuster where water got through the roof. See insurance claim roofing.
Storm damage roof repair in River Ridge
In April 2019, an EF0 tornado left a damage path that began near Jefferson Highway and Andrea Street, the kind of short burst that can lift shingle tabs and ridge cap without leaving much to see from the street. After a storm, call during business hours; we photograph the damage before the tarp goes up. See storm damage repair.
Hail damage roof repair in River Ridge
On an aging River Ridge roof, we check whether hail or plain wear is doing the harm before you decide whether to file. See hail damage repair.
Asphalt shingle roofing in River Ridge
On a River Ridge shingle reroof, we run self-adhered underlayment through the valleys and along the eaves, where runoff concentrates before it reaches the gutter. See asphalt shingle roofing.
Standing-seam metal in River Ridge
On one of the newer houses near the levee, standing-seam metal is worth pricing at reroof time; its raised seams leave a hard rain very little to work into. See standing-seam metal.
Composite slate in River Ridge
DaVinci composite slate gives a River Ridge house a slate look. See composite slate.
Roof inspection in River Ridge
If you are buying an original house off Sauve Road, a pre-purchase inspection gives you a read on the roof before you sign. See roof inspection.
Leak detection in River Ridge
A rain like the August 2017 storm that hit River Ridge can expose a slow roof leak that dry weeks kept hidden. See leak detection.
Emergency repair and tarping in River Ridge
Call during business hours with an active leak, and we size it up over the phone. When River Ridge streets are still flooded, the tarp crew is booked for the first window when the roads and the roof are safe. See emergency repair.
Water First, Then Age
The May 1995 flood began in Jefferson and Orleans parishes, with River Ridge and Harahan among the places it started, and Jefferson Parish alone counted 14,600 flooded homes and apartments. On a roof, the lesson is volume: valleys, eaves, and wall flashing have to clear a long, heavy rain without water backing up under the shingles.
Suburban building here began in the early 1950s, and by 1965 nearly all the land along the river between Harahan and Kenner was developed. Newer homes have since gone up on lots near the levee. An original house and a new one a few doors apart call for different conversations: deck condition and aging flashing on one, material choice and design details on the other.

Getting There, and the Parish Permit
From our Mandeville office, we cross the Causeway, take I-10 west, and turn south on Clearview Parkway to Jefferson Highway by the Huey P. Long Bridge. From there, it is west on Jefferson Highway through Harahan and into River Ridge. Expect about 50 minutes.
Unincorporated River Ridge is permitted by Jefferson Parish's Department of Building Permits. Since August 1, 2025, state law has required parishes that issue permits to permit and inspect reroofs on one- and two-family homes, so a River Ridge reroof gets both.
Along the Old Long Lots
Jefferson Highway and the riverside:
the 3-mile stretch of LA 48 through town and the blocks between it and the levee, where the Mississippi River Trail runs along the top.
Sauve Road and Little Farms Avenue:
main streets that follow the old plantation long lots; Little Farms was the area's name until 1974.
Citrus Road, Wilker Neal Avenue, and the town edges:
residential streets toward Harahan on the east and Kenner to the northwest.
Sorting Out a River Ridge Roof
Does Harahan or the parish permit my roof?
The 70123 ZIP code covers River Ridge, Harahan, and nearby blocks, so the mailing name can mislead. A property within Harahan's city limits is subject to the City of Harahan, which issues its own building permits. Unincorporated River Ridge goes to the parish. We check the parcel before filing.
My ceiling stained after heavy rain, but the shingles look fine from the yard. Should I call?
Yes. Wind-driven rain can slip in at a vent boot, a wall joint, or a valley without leaving a mark visible from the ground. A dry-day visit gives us time to work on the attic.
Can you cover my deductible?
No contractor may legally cover or waive a deductible in Louisiana. Your adjuster gets a photo-backed roof record from us, whether the policy is with State Farm, Allstate, National General, Louisiana Citizens, USAA, or another carrier.
What license should a roofer hold for my River Ridge reroof?
Since January 1, 2026, state law has required a Louisiana Residential Roofing or Residential Construction license for residential roof work valued at $7,500 or more, wherever in the state the house sits. Epic's residential license is LA RL886377; ask every bidder for their number and look it up before you sign.
