Insurance Claim Roofing in LaPlace, LA
Roof evidence for LaPlace insurance claims: drone and attic photos, an itemized scope for your adjuster, and the repair once your insurer approves it.
When a storm damages a LaPlace roof, the claim is yours, and the decision is your insurer's. Epic Roofing's part, as in all of our insurance claim roofing, is the evidence and, after approval, the work itself. After Ida, much of St. John Parish has a claim on record, so the paper trail on your roof matters from the first call. The roof inspection is free.
Claim History Across St. John Parish
According to one analysis published in April 2022, about 82 percent of occupied homes in St. John Parish filed insurance claims for wind damage after Hurricane Ida. That analysis found the share higher than in any other Louisiana parish closely affected by the storm. Insurers reported 21,217 Ida claims of all kinds in St. John to the state Department of Insurance by the end of March 2022, and roughly seven in ten of those had closed with a payment. For a LaPlace owner, a new roof claim can be assigned to an address that already has an Ida claim on file, which is why dated photos of the roof as it stands today and of what was fixed since 2021 are worth having before the adjuster visits.
Storms here do not all hit the same way. Hurricane Francine in September 2024 brought St. John a federal disaster declaration, yet the parish president put the number of affected structures at around 300 and named flooding as the main problem. Parish permit records for past roofing in LaPlace, your own photos, and any repair receipts all belong in your roof's paper trail.

Inside Epic's Share of a LaPlace Claim
On a LaPlace claim, Epic can provide:
A free storm inspection:
Drone photos of every slope, a look through the attic, and an infrared moisture scan wherever water may have reached the deck.
A dated photo report:
Each finding is photographed in CompanyCam and filed under the slope it came from, and you keep the album even if you choose a different roofer.
An itemized scope:
A written estimate with every line priced and every brand named, so your insurer can set it side by side with its own adjuster's figures. Code-required items are listed separately.
A contractor at the adjuster visit:
If you invite us, we go up with the adjuster and explain the technical side of what we photographed. We attend as the contractor, never as your representative.
Written notes on damage found later:
When a second look or the tear-off turns up something the adjuster's scope left out, we photograph it and write it up so you can ask your insurer for a review.
Three things stay off our list: opening the claim, interpreting your coverage, and estimating a payout. Louisiana RS 22:1684 bars roofers from serving as public adjusters, so we do not negotiate or settle claims. No contractor may legally cover or waive a deductible in Louisiana.
Five Stages of a LaPlace Roof Claim
Open the claim:
That call is yours to make, to your insurer or your agent. Take pictures before anything is cleaned up, and keep the receipt for any tarp or temporary cover put on the roof.
Free roof inspection:
The drone covers every slope, we go through the attic, and each finding is photographed up close. The consultation comes with no deposit.
Report and scope:
The photo album and the itemized estimate reach you 2–5 business days after the inspection, both in a form you can forward to your adjuster.
The adjuster meeting:
If you ask us to attend, an Epic roofer joins the adjuster's visit and goes through the findings slope by slope.
Work once the claim is approved:
Our crew completes the repair or replacement, and final photos plus the invoice are added to your file for your insurer and your own records.
Pricing a Claim Job in LaPlace
A full reroof on a LaPlace house of 2,000 to 2,500 square feet falls in Epic's published range of $13,000 to $23,000, and repairs run $400 to $1,800 at one spot or $2,000 to $5,000 across several areas. Roof Claim FAQ for LaPlace Homes
We filed an Ida claim on this roof. Can a new storm still be claimed?
Whether to file, and how a past claim is treated, are matters for you and your insurer. Ask your agent how this applies to your policy. What we can add is a dated record of the roof as it looks now, so new damage is shown apart from old. If you kept invoices or photos from repairs after Ida, bring them to the inspection.
Water got into our house during Francine, but the roof looks fine. Should someone look at it anyway?
Yes, if only for the record. Rising water and roof damage are separate problems, and a drone flight plus an attic check shows whether the roof played any part. If we find nothing, the report says so, and you have that on record for later.
Do we need to be home for the inspection?
We recommend it for the attic check. Someone has to let us into the attic, and it helps if you walk us through any stains or damage you have noticed inside. The drone flight and the roof photos can go ahead without you.
Who handles the permit when insurance pays for a new roof?
We do, with St. John Parish. A state law in force since August 1, 2025 requires the parish, like any parish that issues building permits, to issue and inspect reroof permits. An insured reroof goes through both steps the same way as one you pay for yourself, and the permit fee is listed separately on our estimate from the roofing work.
Our claim will cover the cost of a new roof. Should we look at FORTIFIED before work starts?
That is the moment to ask, because a FORTIFIED roof is built to an IBHS standard during a full replacement, and Epic appears on the state roster of approved Fortify Homes contractors. St. John was on the Round 9 parish list for the state's grant, which was awarded by lottery and required approval before any roof work could begin. Any later round is posted at fortifyhomes.la.gov. Choosing FORTIFIED roofing in LaPlace changes how the layers beneath the shingles are built and photographed, so it must be settled before tear-off day.
