Storm Damage Roof Repair in Covington, LA
Peeled shingles, limb strikes and tornado damage on Covington roofs, recorded before cleanup and repaired by our own crew once you choose how to pay.
Small tornadoes have touched Covington and the surrounding land several times since 2017, and most of what they did to houses was ordinary storm damage. Epic Roofing repairs that kind of storm damage to a roof, starting with a free inspection that photographs every slope before cleanup changes the picture.
Four Surveyed Storms In and Around Covington
Before dawn on November 1, 2018, an EF-0 tornado touched down at the back of the Tallow Creek neighborhood, about three miles west of Covington, and ran roughly a third of a mile east, passing between Cole Court and Arian Lane. It snapped trees and large branches, knocked over fences and mailboxes, and caused minor damage to roofs, mainly shingles peeled off. On the afternoon of December 6, 2021, an EF-0 tornado touched down near Highway 190 and Hollycrest Boulevard in Covington. Part of the north-facing outer wall of the Hollycrest Plaza shopping center collapsed; the center sustained minor roof damage, and pines and large limbs fell along 5th Avenue, Soell Drive, and Mire Drive as it moved east.
North of town, an EF-1 tornado formed along Lee Road early on April 3, 2017, and tracked about 1.75 miles east across Stafford Road. Trees fell across the area; one landed on a home, and minor to moderate roof damage was recorded. The most recent was an EF-1 on March 15, 2025, that came ashore near Madisonville and ran 7.55 miles toward Covington, ending about two miles east-southeast of the city. Its damage included trees and branches across the Deloaks neighborhood. A storm like this can lift tabs on one slope and leave the next untouched, so the drone records each face of the roof before any repair is written up.

Four Kinds of Storm Repair in Covington
Storm repairs fall into four groups, and a single storm can leave more than one:
Wind damage to the covering:
Lifted or torn shingles are replaced from the line already on the house, or the nearest match if that line is gone, and sealed to the maker's instructions. Ridge cap is matched to the field shingle, and flashing the wind pulled from a chimney, sidewall, or valley is reset or replaced.
A branch through the deck:
We cut back to sound wood, fit new plywood, seal the seams, and rebuild the underlayment and shingles above it.
Damage that surfaces days later:
Decking that soaked up rain, underlayment left wet under a missing shingle, and any ridge vent, soffit vent, or vent cap the wind shoved out of place.
Framing that moved:
A rafter or truss cracked by a tree or a tornado goes to a Louisiana-licensed structural engineer and a framer first. Framing is not Epic's trade, and our repair starts once theirs is done.
Five Steps From the Storm to a Finished Repair
The storm date and what you saw:
When you call, tell us the date and what has changed since: shingles down, a limb on the roof, a new stain. If water is coming in, say so, and a temporary cover can be arranged first.
Photos before anything moves:
The free inspection covers each slope by drone, the attic from the inside, and, where water may be trapped, an infrared scan. The CompanyCam report is yours to keep, whatever you decide.
A scope to hold up against your deductible.
A written scope follows in 2–5 business days with every line priced, so you can weigh the total against your deductible. The consultation is deposit-free, and whether to file a claim or pay directly is your call.
Adjuster day, if there is one.
When you invite us, we meet your insurer's adjuster on the roof, act as the contractor, and answer technical questions about what the photos show.
Repair, sweep and closing photos.
Our own crew makes the repair, with the landscaping tarped and a magnet run over the yard to pick up nails. Closing photos go into that same album, and the written warranty on our repair work is emailed to you.
Covington Storm Repair Prices
Storm repairs are priced based on how far the damage spread, regardless of what caused it. One area, such as a run of peeled shingles along a rake or a ridge section the wind opened, falls in the $400 to $1,800 range. Damage across several slopes, or a limb strike that needs new decking and flashing around it, runs $2,000 to $5,000.
Once a roof carries more storm damage than sound shingles, replacing it makes more sense, and a roof replacement in Covington on a home of 2,000 to 2,500 square feet runs $13,000 to $23,000. Wear that built up over the years with no storm behind it is priced as ordinary roof repair in Covington. A repair in the Old Covington historic district can need a review first, so those houses go through historic roof restoration in Covington. A storm-hit shop or office roof is a job for commercial roof repairs in Covington.
Questions After a Covington Storm
The 2018 Tallow Creek tornado peeled shingles off houses west of town. If ours were patched back then, should someone look at that patch now?
It is worth a look on the next inspection. A patch from that period can be checked for loose or unsealed tabs, a color line against the older shingles, and any stain in the attic beneath it. If it is holding, the photos will show that too.
The March 2025 tornado scattered branches across Deloaks. The branches are off our roof now, so what else should be checked?
Where the branches landed. A heavy limb can crack a ridge cap, dent a vent, or gouge shingles without breaking through, and smaller twigs and leaves packed into a valley slow the water down. The drone photos show those spots, and the attic shows whether anything came through.
Covington is close to your office. Does that speed up a storm visit?
It helps. Covington is about 10 minutes from our Mandeville office, so storm visits here fit into our regular weekly schedule rather than a special trip. When you call during business hours, tell us what the storm left and whether anything is leaking.
Does Covington get hail big enough to damage a roof?
Now and then. The largest reported stones fell in 2010: golf-ball size in town that May and up to golf-ball size northwest of town that October; reports since have topped out at quarter size. If hail fell with the wind, mention it when you call, and the inspection will separate bruised or cracked shingles that need hail damage roof repair from marks that are only cosmetic.
Can the roof be checked before the next storm instead of after one?
Yes. A routine inspection uses the same drone photos and attic check, with infrared where it helps. It is also free for homeowners, and it can catch a lifted tab or a loose piece of flashing while the fix is still small.
